Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter Free Demo Now Available on PS5, Switch, and Steam
Nihon Falcom and GungHo Online Entertainment America have released a free demo for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, giving fans an early chance to jump back into the beloved RPG series before the full game arrives worldwide on September 17, 2026.
The demo is available now on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Players on Nintendo Switch 2 can also access the Switch version through backward compatibility.
Set immediately after the events of Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter, the sequel once again follows Estelle Bright as she continues her emotional journey across the Kingdom of Liberl. This time, her mission is deeply personal: she is searching for Joshua while becoming entangled with the mysterious and dangerous Enforcers of Ouroboros.
The free demo offers around 10 hours of gameplay, making it a generous preview for both returning fans and newcomers curious about the updated remake. It covers the prologue, “A Young Girl’s Decision,” and continues through the end of Chapter 1, “A Looming Shadow.”
Players will be able to explore familiar locations across Liberl, including Rolent, Ruan, and Grancel. The demo also includes senior bracer training at Le Locle Canyon, early battles against Ouroboros Enforcers, and plenty of story moments that set the stage for the full adventure.
There is no time limit in the Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter demo, so players can take their time exploring, completing side activities, and enjoying the world at their own pace.
One of the biggest highlights is save data transfer. Story progress, character levels, items, and inventory from the demo can be carried over to the full version when it launches. Players will be able to continue from their demo save using the game’s load or transfer options from the title screen.
Fans who have completed Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter will also receive an extra bonus. By importing completed clear data into the 2nd Chapter demo, players can unlock Classic Style SC costumes for Estelle and Joshua. These outfits are inspired by their original looks from Trails in the Sky SC, adding a nostalgic touch for longtime fans of the series.
Combat has also been expanded in Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter. The remake builds on the battle system introduced in the first chapter while adding new mechanics and refinements. Players can try the linked Brave Rush attack during quick battles, along with new crafts, expanded S-Crafts, and updated elemental orbment setups.
The demo also brings back several fan-favorite side activities, including fishing, poker, and cooking. These features help make Liberl feel lively and give players more ways to engage with the world beyond the main story.
On PC, the Steam version includes AMD FSR 2.2 upscaling support. Early handheld PC testing suggests the game runs in the 40 to 50 FPS range on the default Medium preset rather than maintaining a locked 60 FPS, but performance may vary depending on settings and future updates.
