Lenovo has started shipping the 2026 ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11, the latest version of its premium business convertible. On paper, the move from the 2025 ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 to the new Gen 11 model looks like a straightforward upgrade, especially with Intel’s newer Panther Lake processors replacing the previous Lunar Lake chips.

However, buyers focused on performance should look closely before choosing a configuration. While the new generation offers several CPU options, only one version delivers the kind of graphics boost that makes the upgrade truly worthwhile.

The ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11 is available with multiple Intel processor choices, including the Core Ultra 5 325, Core Ultra 5 335, Core Ultra 7 355, Core Ultra 7 365, Core Ultra 7 366H, and Core Ultra X7 368H. Most of these chips use Intel’s Xe3 integrated graphics, while the top-end Core Ultra X7 368H includes the more powerful integrated Arc B390 GPU.

That difference is important. The Xe3 graphics found in most Panther Lake configurations are not a major step forward for graphics performance. In fact, they can fall behind the Arc 140V graphics used in the older Lunar Lake-based ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10. This means that many lower and mid-range Gen 11 configurations may actually deliver weaker graphics performance than last year’s model.

For users who mainly handle office work, web browsing, video calls, note-taking, and light multitasking, the standard configurations may still be more than enough. The ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 remains a premium convertible with the flexibility of a tablet-style design, business-focused features, and a compact 14-inch form factor.

But for buyers who want stronger integrated graphics for creative apps, heavier multitasking, light gaming, GPU-accelerated workloads, or simply the best possible performance from this 2026 model, the Core Ultra X7 368H configuration is the one to watch. Its Arc B390 graphics can deliver a dramatic jump compared with the regular Xe3 iGPU, making it the only Gen 11 option that clearly separates itself from the previous generation.

The downside is price. ThinkPad models equipped with the Core Ultra X7 and Arc B390 are expected to sit at the top of Lenovo’s pricing range, with configurations likely costing around $3,000 or more depending on memory, storage, display, and other options.

Still, for those willing to pay the premium, the ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11 with Core Ultra X7 368H could become one of the fastest 14-inch ThinkPad convertibles available. For everyone else, especially users considering lower-tier Gen 11 models, it may be worth comparing carefully against the 2025 ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 10 before buying.

In short, the 2026 ThinkPad X1 2-in-1 Gen 11 is not automatically faster across every configuration. If graphics performance matters, the Core Ultra X7 368H with Arc B390 is the standout choice. Without it, the newer model may not feel like the upgrade many performance-focused buyers are expecting.
