The Legend of Kage

The Legend of Kage Returns with a Modern Revival

The Legend of Kage Returns This Week for Switch 2 and PlayStation 5

Hamster Corporation is bringing another retro classic back to modern players with the next release in its Console Archives series. The Legend of Kage, TAITO’s fast-paced 1980s action game, is set to launch worldwide on June 18 for Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.

Originally released by TAITO in 1986 for an 8-bit home console, The Legend of Kage is a classic ninja action game that sends players into a dangerous demon realm. You take on the role of Kage, an Iga ninja on a mission to rescue Princess Kirihime after she is kidnapped by villains.

The adventure challenges players to battle through enemy-filled areas using a sword, shuriken, and a variety of ninja techniques. With quick movement, intense action, and a simple but memorable rescue mission, The Legend of Kage became one of the recognizable action titles of its era.

In the game, Kage must fight his way toward the villains’ castle, where Kirihime is being held captive. The gameplay focuses on agility, timing, and classic arcade-style combat, making it a nostalgic pick for fans of old-school ninja games and retro action titles.

Hamster Corporation’s Console Archives lineup is known for faithfully reproducing classic console games for current platforms. This new release gives longtime fans a chance to revisit The Legend of Kage while introducing a new generation of players to one of TAITO’s vintage action games.

The Legend of Kage arrives on June 18 for Switch 2 and PlayStation 5 worldwide.
