TCL Launches X11L SQD-Mini LED TV Preorders, Delivering Up to 20,000 Precision Dimming Zones

TCL is now taking preorders in the United States for its new X11L SQD-Mini LED smart TV lineup, a premium series positioned at the very top of the company’s current TV range. It’s not a budget-friendly release: pricing starts at US$7,000 for the 75-inch model, climbs to US$8,000 for the 85-inch version, and reaches US$10,000 for the massive 98-inch size. While preorders are currently focused on the US market, broader availability in other regions is expected to follow.

The headline feature of the TCL X11L series is its focus on extremely bright Mini LED performance paired with high-end color reproduction. TCL says the “SQD” branding stands for Super Quantum Dots, an approach designed to improve color accuracy and saturation compared with more typical implementations. According to the company, the combination of Super Quantum Dots, a CSOT UltraColor Filter, and a dedicated processing algorithm enables full coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut, a spec often associated with wide-color premium displays.

Beyond color, TCL is also pushing brightness hard. The X11L’s peak brightness is rated at up to 10,000 nits. As with most TV brightness claims, that figure generally refers to short bursts in small highlight areas rather than the entire screen at once, but it still signals an ultra-bright display aimed at punchy HDR highlights and strong performance in well-lit rooms.

Contrast should also be a major selling point. TCL states the X11L series can deliver up to 20,000 local dimming zones, allowing the backlight to adjust in many small regions rather than lighting large sections at once. In real-world viewing, more dimming zones typically means better black levels, reduced blooming around bright objects, and more precise HDR control—especially important for a TV built around extreme brightness.

For gamers and high-frame-rate video fans, TCL includes a 4K panel with a maximum refresh rate of 144Hz and support for AMD FreeSync Premium Pro when connected to compatible hardware. That combination is designed to reduce tearing and stutter while keeping motion looking smooth, making the X11L a strong candidate for current-generation console and PC gaming setups.

On the smart TV side, the X11L lineup runs Google TV, offering a familiar app ecosystem and voice-enabled features many buyers already use across streaming devices and televisions. Connectivity is clearly aimed at modern home theater setups too, with four HDMI 2.1 ports included. One of those supports HDMI eARC, which helps simplify audio connections when pairing the TV with a soundbar or AV receiver.

With its super-premium pricing, sky-high brightness claims, and sheer number of dimming zones, the TCL X11L SQD-Mini LED series is positioning itself as a high-end alternative for shoppers who want a massive screen, bold HDR performance, cutting-edge gaming features, and wide color coverage in a Mini LED flagship.
