TCL has expanded its television lineup with the addition of two new models, the Q65 and Q68, both boasting the QLED 4K Smart Google TV platform. These releases cater to a range of sizes suitable for different room dimensions and viewing preferences.
The Q65 series, also known as the Q651G, offers versatility with options that range from a compact 43-inch display to an expansive 98-inch screen. On the other hand, the Q68 series or Q681G, while slightly more limited in size options, presents enhanced features with models available from 55-inch to 85-inch displays.
The standout difference between the two series is that the Q68 incorporates QLED Pro technology along with full array local dimming. This advanced feature not only improves contrast and deepens blacks but also boosts the peak brightness to 600 nits. As for the Q65, it comes in various sizes with a consistent level of quality, but without the Pro enhancements found in the Q68.
Both series support HDR10+ and Dolby Vision—crucial for delivering a more dynamic and vibrant picture quality. The refresh rate varies across the models, with the larger screens (85-inch and 98-inch) providing a smoother 120Hz refresh rate, while the smaller ones maintain the standard 60Hz.
Stepping into the realm of smart functionality, these televisions come equipped with Google TV, a platform that allows for convenient streaming from numerous applications. They also integrate seamlessly with other devices and services, including Apple AirPlay 2, allowing for easy wireless screencasting.
Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate features like Game Accelerator 120/240 with Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), which can significantly enhance the gaming experience with smoother visuals and less input lag. Dolby Atmos audio is included as well, offering an immersive sound to accompany the stunning visuals, while voice command capabilities make it easier to control the TV without the need for a remote.
In terms of design, these TCL models tout a bezel-less look, which contributes to a sleek and modern aesthetic that will fit in any living space.
The pricing for the Q65 starts at an accessible $349.99 for the 43-inch model, and goes up to $2,999.99 for the 98-inch variant. The Q68, which is the premium offering, starts at $499.99 for the 55-inch model, with the price incrementally increasing for larger sizes, reaching up to $1,499.99 for the 85-inch TV.
As of the latest update, TCL has not yet announced whether these television models will be made available in other international markets, including Europe, but the offerings have certainly stirred interest among US consumers looking for a high-quality viewing experience.
For individuals or families in the market for a new TV, TCL’s Q65 and Q68 present a variety of options that can accommodate different budgets and preferences, boasting both high performance and smart features that enhance the entertainment experience in the comfort of one’s home.
