Take-Two CEO Says $100 GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Is Already Winning the Pre-Order Race

GTA 6 Ultimate Edition Reportedly Leads Pre-Orders Despite $100 Price

The $100 price tag for GTA 6 Ultimate Edition does not appear to be slowing down demand. According to Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick, early pre-orders for Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Grand Theft Auto 6 are leaning strongly toward the premium version of the game.

Speaking in a recent interview, Zelnick said GTA 6 pre-orders are “skewing to the premium edition,” suggesting that many players are choosing the higher-priced package over the standard release. While Take-Two has not shared exact pre-order numbers, the executive noted that early demand has performed better than expected.

GTA 6 is currently scheduled to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. The Standard Edition is priced at $80, while the Ultimate Edition costs $100. For the extra $20, players receive additional digital content, including bonus vehicles, clothing, weapons, and other in-game extras.

The strong performance of the GTA 6 Ultimate Edition is not entirely surprising. Premium and deluxe versions of major games have become increasingly popular across PlayStation and Xbox storefronts, especially when they include exclusive digital content or early bonuses. For a franchise as massive as Grand Theft Auto, many fans appear willing to pay more to get the most complete package available at launch.

Zelnick, however, warned that early pre-order success does not guarantee long-term sales performance. He explained that demand could be front-loaded, meaning the most dedicated fans may have already reserved their copies ahead of release. He also reminded investors that pre-orders can still be canceled before launch, making it difficult to predict final sales numbers too early.

Even with that caution, the early momentum around GTA 6 is significant. The Ultimate Edition has reportedly been one of the strongest performers among upcoming games on the PlayStation Store, showing that players are not being discouraged by the higher price.

One notable detail is that the Ultimate Edition appears to be focused on digital distribution rather than traditional boxed retail. Physical collectors have expressed frustration over the industry’s move away from discs, especially as more major releases rely on code-in-box formats or digital-only premium editions. Still, that concern does not seem to be having a major effect on GTA 6 pre-orders so far.

The pricing conversation around GTA 6 has been intense for months. Before Rockstar confirmed the game’s release details and edition pricing, some fans speculated that the standard version alone could cost $100 or more. Instead, Take-Two has positioned the $100 option as a premium upgrade while keeping the base version at $80.

Zelnick has repeatedly said the company is focused on delivering strong value to players. Based on current pre-order trends, many GTA fans seem to agree that the extra digital content in the Ultimate Edition is worth the additional cost.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be one of the biggest entertainment launches in years. With enormous anticipation, a long wait since GTA 5, and Rockstar’s reputation for open-world detail, the game is widely expected to dominate sales charts when it arrives. If current pre-order patterns continue, the $100 Ultimate Edition could play a major role in that success.
