Resident Evil Requiem might be the rare big release that’s actually cheaper on Nintendo’s next system. A recent retailer listing shows the Switch 2 version available to pre-order for £60, while the PlayStation 5 and Xbox editions are set at £70. Pricing for the PC release remains unclear ahead of the February 27 launch.
That £10 difference is notable in the current landscape. The Switch 2 hardware may have dodged the price hikes seen with other consoles, but software discounts are infrequent and accessory costs have crept up. Any break at checkout is welcome.
On the tech side, Capcom’s survival horror runs on the RE Engine across platforms. The Switch 2 build reportedly targets a lower internal resolution around 600p with DLSS upscaling to keep performance steady in handheld and docked play. Early comparisons suggest the Switch 2 holds up respectably but can’t match the finer details and effects seen on more powerful consoles. Even so, visual compromises haven’t always led to lower prices on Nintendo’s platform. Madden NFL 26 launched at $69.99 on Switch 2—identical to its PlayStation and Xbox tags—while some third-party titles, such as the Star Wars Outlaws Gold Edition, have landed at $59.99, often after debuting elsewhere first.
Nintendo’s own lineup hasn’t offered many bargains either. The newly announced Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 compilation carries a $70 price, despite the original Galaxy appearing as part of the 2020 Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection. For players watching their budget, a more affordable Resident Evil Requiem on Switch 2 stands out.
Capcom isn’t stopping with one game. Resident Evil: Biohazard Gold Edition and Resident Evil Village Gold Edition are also slated for Switch 2 on February 27. While prices and pre-order pages haven’t fully rolled out yet, native releases should deliver better performance than the previous cloud-based versions on the original Switch.
Bottom line: if you’re planning to pick up Resident Evil Requiem at launch and price matters, the Nintendo Switch 2 version could be the best value. Keep an eye on official listings as the release date approaches, especially if PC pricing lands competitively.
