Nintendo Switch 2 Datamine May Reveal 13 Playable Bloodsworn Characters in The Duskbloods
A major development in the Nintendo Switch 2 homebrew scene may have opened the door to new discoveries about upcoming games, including FromSoftware’s mysterious Switch 2 exclusive, The Duskbloods. According to recent datamining efforts, the game may feature a total of 13 playable characters, known in the game’s world as the Bloodsworn.
The discovery comes after the Nintendo Switch 2 was reportedly hacked and jailbroken roughly a year and a half after its June 2025 launch. While jailbreaks are often associated with homebrew apps, custom tools, and game mods, they can also allow dataminers to inspect game files from legally owned copies. This process can uncover unused assets, cut content, hidden features, and possible clues about future updates or downloadable content.
For fans of The Duskbloods, that access has become especially interesting. FromSoftware has kept details about the game unusually quiet since its reveal. Aside from its initial announcement trailer and a later gameplay-focused trailer, the studio has shared very little about the project. That silence has only made players more eager to learn what the final game will include.
The Duskbloods received a closed network test in late August, giving selected players a brief look at its gameplay. Early impressions suggested that the game follows the multiplayer-focused direction seen in Elden Ring Nightreign, with many describing it as a PvPvE experience. In other words, players may have to deal not only with hostile enemies controlled by the game, but also rival players competing in the same world.
During that test, only six playable characters were available. FromSoftware previously indicated that the final release would include more, but did not confirm the full roster. Now, datamined files appear to suggest that the launch version could include 13 Bloodsworn in total.
The latest findings reportedly come from files examined by members of the community, with the information later shared among fans online. However, the names of the characters themselves do not appear to be listed directly. Instead, the files seem to identify the Bloodsworn by their associated weapons.
One example mentioned by fans is “Golden Scarab,” which is believed to refer to Layla, one of the characters seen during the network test. Another listed weapon, the “Nike Wheel Spear,” has drawn attention because a mini-boss enemy in the test version reportedly used it. This has led to speculation that some weapons, movesets, or even enemy concepts could be connected to playable Bloodsworn in the full game.
As always with datamined information, fans should treat these details as unconfirmed until FromSoftware or Nintendo makes an official announcement. Game files can contain placeholder names, cut content, test assets, or material that changes before release. Still, the possibility of 13 playable characters gives players plenty to speculate about, especially given FromSoftware’s reputation for deep combat systems and distinctive character builds.
The big question now is when The Duskbloods will actually launch. The game is still expected within its announced 2026 release window, but the lack of recent updates has made some fans skeptical. With the year moving forward and several major releases expected to dominate attention, many players are wondering whether FromSoftware is preparing a late marketing push or if the game could slip further than planned.
For now, The Duskbloods remains one of the most intriguing Nintendo Switch 2 exclusives on the horizon. If the datamine is accurate, players may have far more Bloodsworn to master than the network test suggested, potentially giving the game a broader range of playstyles, weapons, and multiplayer strategies when it finally arrives.
