In the past year, Substack has significantly enhanced its video tools for creators, transitioning from a platform known primarily for newsletters to one that’s now incorporating rich multimedia features. This evolution continued with the recent announcement of new features designed to help publishers expand and promote their livestreams effectively.
Among the latest updates, creators can now share clips of their live videos on Notes, and are notified in real-time about performance metrics. This allows publishers to identify which clips resonate best, enabling them to upload these to other platforms like YouTube Shorts for broader reach. For those linking their YouTube accounts, the two most popular clips will automatically upload to their Shorts channels.
Currently, this feature is accessible on the iOS app and is set to roll out on Android by next week. Substack leverages AI technology to generate short highlight clips from video content, streamlining the process for creators.
Another convenient addition is the automatic creation of promotional assets when scheduling a livestream, facilitating effortless sharing across Notes, YouTube, and other social media channels. This feature saves time and effort, allowing creators to focus more on content creation.
Furthermore, there’s now a simple way to invite guests to livestreams via email or SMS, catering to followers without Substack accounts.
These updates come after Substack recently introduced audio-only livestreams and a scrollable video feed, following their earlier roll-out of live video capabilities to all publishers this year.
