Subnautica 2 Unveils Huge Roadmap Packed With New Updates

Subnautica 2 Update Teases New Region, Collector Leviathan, Co-Op Features, and More

Subnautica 2 is already making waves with more than four million players diving into its strange alien seas, but developer Unknown Worlds is only getting started. A new developer update has revealed several upcoming features, improvements, and fresh content that should give fans even more reasons to return to the depths.

One of the biggest focuses is quality-of-life improvements. Unknown Worlds is expanding the Biomod system with more customization options, giving players greater control over how they adapt to underwater survival. Wreck exploration is also being refined, which should make searching through abandoned structures more rewarding and enjoyable.

Another welcome change is the ability to replay PDA voice logs. This should be especially useful for players who miss important story details or want to revisit key information while exploring. The studio is also working on better delivery for important audio messages, helping ensure critical updates are easier to notice during intense gameplay.

Co-op players can expect some exciting additions as well. Proximity voice chat is currently in development, which should make multiplayer exploration feel more natural and immersive. Instead of relying only on external chat systems, players will be able to communicate based on how close they are to each other in the world.

More character customization options are also on the way, along with new emotes. These features should help players express themselves more during co-op sessions and make group expeditions through Subnautica 2’s alien ocean feel more personal and social.

The most exciting reveal is the first major content update for Subnautica 2. Unknown Worlds is preparing a completely new region filled with fresh discoveries, new resources, additional creatures, and more story content. The update will also introduce the mysterious Collector Leviathan, a new massive lifeform that is likely to become one of the game’s most talked-about encounters.

The developers also teased a brand-new chassis with the phrase “get ready to get stompy,” strongly suggesting the return of a fan-requested feature. While details remain limited, longtime players are already speculating about what kind of heavy-duty underwater vehicle or equipment could be joining the game.

Even better, the upcoming Subnautica 2 content is expected to support existing save files. That means players should not have to restart their adventure when the major update arrives, allowing them to continue exploring from their current progress.

Subnautica 2 is available on Windows PC through Steam, Microsoft Store, and Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Series X|S. With new regions, expanded customization, improved co-op features, and the arrival of the Collector Leviathan, the next major update could be one of the most important steps forward for the game yet.
