Daedalic Entertainment and Mimimi Games are bringing two fan-favorite stealth strategy experiences to Nintendo Switch 2: Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun and the standalone expansion Aiko’s Choice. Both titles launch on March 18, 2026, with preorders available now offering a $10 discount. Players can pick them up individually or grab everything together in an Ultimate Edition bundle.
Originally released in 2016 on PC before expanding to consoles, Shadow Tactics quickly earned a reputation as one of the defining stealth tactics games of its era. Aiko’s Choice followed years later, launching on PC in 2021 and later arriving on consoles as well. Now, the pair is returning in what’s positioned as the definitive console release, rebuilt and optimized specifically for Switch 2.
A major highlight for the Nintendo Switch 2 version is native mouse support, aiming to deliver the precise point-and-click control that stealth strategy fans love. Alongside that, the new release is tuned for better performance, with improved loading times and smoother overall play. Visual targets include HD 1080p at 30 FPS in handheld mode and up to 4K output at 30 FPS when docked.
For anyone new to the series, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun is set in Japan’s Edo period and focuses on careful planning, smart positioning, and perfectly timed execution rather than fast reflexes. You’ll command a small squad of specialists, each designed for a different style of infiltration. Hayato is the quick and deadly ninja, Takuma provides long-range coverage as a sniper, Yuki uses traps and cunning to control enemy movement, Mugen brings brute-force samurai power when needed, and Aiko is a master of disguise who can manipulate situations in ways the others can’t.
What makes Shadow Tactics stand out is how it turns each mission into a handcrafted stealth sandbox. Castles, monasteries, forest camps, and guarded compounds become puzzles filled with patrol patterns, sightlines, alarms, and opportunities. You can lure guards away, set traps, quietly eliminate targets, or try to slip through without a fight. The best moments come from coordinating multiple characters at once—stacking abilities into a single clean plan that unfolds in seconds.
The Ultimate Edition combines the full main campaign—offering 25+ hours of gameplay—with the Aiko’s Choice expansion, giving Switch 2 players the complete Shadow Tactics package in one place. With its upgraded performance, Switch 2-specific optimizations, and mouse-mode support, this release is shaping up to be one of the most accessible ways to experience a modern classic in stealth strategy gaming.
