Starlink Residential Lite: Launch of Budget-Friendly Unlimited Data Plan in the US

SpaceX has quietly rolled out an exciting new option for internet users in the United States: the Starlink “Residential Lite” plan. Offering the same expansive network coverage, this plan is priced at an enticing $80 per month, making it a budget-friendly alternative to the existing $120 monthly fee for the regular Residential plan. Both plans provide unlimited data, but here’s where they differ: the Lite plan comes with deprioritized network access. Simply put, during times of peak network usage, the users on this plan may experience reduced speeds.

Despite this, the Residential Lite plan doesn’t impose any data caps or artificial speed limits, offering download speeds ranging between 30Mbps and 100Mbps. This makes it an appealing choice for smaller households who might not require consistently high-speed internet. Plus, customers have the option to upgrade to the standard Residential plan if their browsing needs grow over time.

Currently, the Residential Lite plan is available across 15 US states, including Maine, Vermont, Iowa, and Hawaii. Existing customers within these areas can easily switch over to the Lite plan via their Starlink account online or through the Starlink app. The switch will take effect with the following billing cycle.

Targeted specifically for residential use at a fixed location, this new offering from SpaceX reflects a commitment to providing flexible and affordable internet solutions. However, it’s important to note that the fair use policy will be applicable, ensuring equitable access for all users.
