SpaceX has made its portable Starlink Mini kit more affordable than ever, giving customers a new way to buy the compact satellite internet dish without paying the full price upfront.
For the first time, Starlink Roaming plan subscribers can purchase the Starlink Mini through an installment plan. Instead of paying the full kit price at once, customers can now spread the cost over 12 months at $16 per month. That brings the total to $192, making it the lowest official price yet for the Starlink Mini dish.
When the Starlink Mini first launched, it carried a much higher price tag of $599. Since then, SpaceX has gradually reduced the cost, with occasional discounts bringing it within reach of more users. At one point, the company even offered the Mini kit for free to select Residential Max plan customers, likely encouraging them to try Starlink’s portable internet service while traveling.
That free offer is no longer available, but the new monthly payment option could be even more appealing for people who want satellite internet on the go without a large upfront expense.
The Starlink Mini is designed for portability, making it a practical choice for campers, RV owners, remote workers, travelers, and anyone who needs internet access away from traditional broadband coverage. While SpaceX has also introduced a smaller Standard V5 dish, that model is still not as travel-friendly as the Mini and is not yet widely available.
The timing of the price drop has also sparked interest because SpaceX may be preparing for a next-generation Starlink Mini. Reports suggest a future Starlink Mini 2 could include an integrated battery and USB-C charging, which would make the device even more independent and easier to use outdoors. If true, users would no longer need to carry a separate power bank or external battery setup to keep the dish running.
