Spotify is once again increasing the cost of its Premium subscription in the United States, marking the third price hike in three years. The company is raising the monthly Individual plan from $11.99 to $12.99, and the updated rate will take effect starting with each customer’s next billing cycle.
Spotify has notified paid subscribers about the change via email. The company says periodic pricing updates are meant to reflect the value of the service, helping it continue improving the listening experience while also supporting artists.
This latest increase follows a pattern of steady price adjustments in recent years. Spotify’s first major U.S. hike arrived in 2023, when the Individual plan moved from $9.99 per month to $10.99. Another $1 increase followed in June 2024, bringing the price to $11.99. Now, the plan climbs again to $12.99, continuing the upward trend for users who rely on Spotify for ad-free music, offline listening, and Premium features.
Industry watchers have been expecting this move. A November 2025 report indicated Spotify was preparing to raise U.S. subscription prices in the first quarter of 2026, and analysts projected that an increase could significantly boost revenue—potentially by hundreds of millions of dollars.
Spotify has also made similar subscription price increases in other regions, including markets such as the UK and Switzerland in the past year. Alongside the United States, the company is raising prices in Estonia and Latvia as well, signaling that Spotify’s latest adjustments aren’t limited to one country.
The timing matters because Spotify’s subscriber base continues to be massive and global. The company reports more than 281 million paid users worldwide, with North America accounting for about a quarter of that total based on its Q3 2025 results. With such a large share of subscribers in North America, even a $1 monthly increase in the U.S. can translate into a meaningful revenue lift—especially as Spotify invests in product improvements, licensing, and payouts that keep the platform competitive.
For U.S. subscribers, the key takeaway is simple: if you’re on Spotify’s Individual Premium plan, you should expect your bill to move to $12.99 per month starting with your next monthly renewal.
