Sony’s Refurbished PS5 Bundle Scores You a Second Controller for $19 Ahead of GTA VI

Sony’s Refurbished PS5 Deal Makes a Second DualSense Controller Just $19 Ahead of GTA 6

With GTA 6 set to become one of the biggest game launches in years, Sony is making it cheaper for players in the United States to pick up a PlayStation 5 with an extra controller. A new limited-time offer on PlayStation Direct takes $40 off when shoppers buy a certified refurbished PS5 together with a certified refurbished DualSense controller.

The discount effectively drops the price of the second controller to just $19, making it a tempting option for anyone preparing for local multiplayer, co-op sessions, or simply wanting a backup controller before Rockstar’s next blockbuster arrives.

Sony currently lists the certified refurbished PS5 Digital Edition slim model at $499, while the refurbished PS5 disc edition costs $549. Certified refurbished DualSense controllers are priced at $59 in several popular colors, including White, Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Galactic Purple, Starlight Blue, and Gray Camouflage.

When the $40 bundle discount is applied, the total comes to $518 for the refurbished PS5 Digital Edition with an extra controller. The refurbished PS5 disc model with an additional DualSense comes to $568.

Some premium DualSense colors cost slightly more. Volcanic Red, Sterling Silver, and Cobalt Blue are priced at $64 each, so choosing one of those finishes brings the discounted total to $523 with the Digital Edition or $573 with the disc version.

The savings are notable when compared with buying new hardware. PlayStation Direct currently lists a new PS5 Digital Edition at $599 and a new standard disc PS5 at $649. A new Midnight Black DualSense controller costs $74. That means buying a new console and a second new controller would cost $673 for the Digital Edition or $723 for the disc model.

By comparison, the certified refurbished bundle saves buyers $155 in either case. Even the refurbished PS5 disc edition with a second controller costs $31 less than buying a brand-new PS5 Digital Edition by itself.

The deal may appeal to players who were frustrated by Sony’s recent price increases. Earlier this year, Sony raised the US price of both standard PS5 models by $100, while the PS5 Pro moved from $749.99 to $899.99. As a result, these refurbished PS5 prices are now close to what new units cost before the increase.

Sony says its certified refurbished PlayStation products are fully tested to meet the same functional standards as new hardware. Both the refurbished PS5 consoles and DualSense controllers include a 12-month manufacturer’s warranty. However, Sony notes that refurbished products may have minor cosmetic imperfections.

Each refurbished PS5 console includes one DualSense controller in the box, so this bundle gives buyers two controllers in total. Players choosing the disc model should note that the vertical stand is sold separately for $29. Online multiplayer also still requires an active PlayStation Plus subscription.

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S. Digital pre-loading is expected to begin on November 12. Rockstar Games has not announced a PC version at this time.

For now, the refurbished PS5 and DualSense bundle discount is available only through PlayStation Direct in the United States. Sony describes it as a limited-time offer but has not provided an end date. Standard delivery is free on orders over $40, and PlayStation Direct allows free returns within 30 days.
