Sony PlayStation 5 Pro Faces Indefinite Delay in India

The highly anticipated launch of the PlayStation 5 Pro in India has hit a roadblock, as Sony has announced an indefinite delay. The reason stems from issues surrounding the 6GHz spectrum band, crucial for the console’s advanced Wi-Fi 7 capabilities, which is yet to be allocated in India.

Sony has officially stated that the PlayStation 5 Pro will not be available in certain countries, including India, due to the lack of permission for the use of the 6GHz wireless band that supports IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) functionality. As reported, India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is still deliberating on the spectrum allocation and has until 2027 to decide.

The situation becomes more complicated as the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has raised concerns about potential interference issues. The upper portion of the spectrum (6425-7125 MHz) is currently being considered for telecom uses by 5G and 6G services, adding to the complexity of the decision-making process.

Until these issues are resolved, gamers in India will have to wait indefinitely for the arrival of the PlayStation 5 Pro, highlighting the intricate interplay between technological advancements and regulatory frameworks.
