Sony Confirms Launch Date for Its Fourth Marvel-Themed PlayStation Game

PlayStation has officially locked in a release date for Marvel’s Wolverine, confirming that Insomniac Games’ next big superhero adventure is still on track for its previously promised Fall 2026 window.

After years of anticipation, fans can mark their calendars: Marvel’s Wolverine launches September 15, 2026. The game is being positioned as a major AAA single-player experience, and it will debut as a console exclusive on PS5 and PS5 Pro.

Marvel’s Wolverine was first revealed back in 2021, followed by a trailer released last year. Since then, new footage and major updates have been scarce. Many players expected to hear more during the February 12 State of Play presentation, but the game wasn’t mentioned at all—making this release-date announcement the most concrete update in quite a while.

What makes this title especially interesting is its place in Insomniac’s growing Marvel lineup. The studio previously delivered Marvel’s Spider-Man, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2—three connected releases that helped define superhero gaming on PlayStation. Wolverine, however, is widely reported to be starting something new rather than continuing that Spider-Man storyline, with talk that it could be the first entry in a brand-new trilogy.

Even with the date now confirmed, several key details are still under wraps. PlayStation hasn’t shared official pricing yet, and there’s no confirmed pre-order date. Still, players who want to stay ready can already wishlist Marvel’s Wolverine on the PlayStation Store, which typically signals that pre-orders may open later as marketing ramps up.

With about six months to go, expectations are high that PlayStation and Insomniac will begin revealing more—gameplay, story teases, and perhaps a deeper look at what kind of Wolverine experience this will be. There’s also plenty of room for special hardware announcements. Given PlayStation’s history with superhero releases, fans are already speculating about themed accessories, including a limited-edition DualSense controller and possibly even a special PS5 console bundle to celebrate the launch.
