Sony Brings Back the WH-1000XM6: A Fresh Take on Its Flagship Noise-Canceling Headphones

Sony is giving its flagship WH-1000XM6 over-ear wireless headphones a fresh look with a new “Sand Pink” color option, addressing what many buyers saw as a noticeable color gap between the WH-1000XM5 and the newer WH-1000XM6.

The update arrives nearly a year after the WH-1000XM6 first launched, and the new shade is a more pronounced, deeper pink than the older “Smoky Pink” finish still offered on the WH-1000XM5. Even though it’s clearly more pink than Smoky Pink, Sony appears to be aiming for a softer, more premium vibe by branding it “Sand Pink” instead of calling it simply “Pink,” like it has with some of its other more budget-friendly headphone models.

Pre-orders for the Sony WH-1000XM6 Sand Pink edition open globally on February 12. Pricing matches the existing WH-1000XM6 models, with the Sand Pink version listed at £399 in the UK and €369 across the Eurozone. In the US, it’s priced at $399.99 and will be sold through Sony as well as major retailers.

Importantly for shoppers comparing specs, this is a color-only release. The Sand Pink WH-1000XM6 is functionally the same as the current Black, Midnight Blue, and Platinum Silver versions—so you’re getting the same WH-1000XM6 experience, just in a new high-profile finish that stands out more than Sony’s previous pink option.
