Oppo is about to give compact tablet fans something they’ve been asking for: a small, high-end slate built for smooth gaming and premium visuals. The company has now confirmed that the Oppo Pad Mini will launch later this month, and it’s shaping up to be one of the most interesting compact Android tablets of 2026 thanks to an 8.8-inch OLED screen and a flagship-class Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor.
In recent years, demand for compact tablets has been climbing again, especially among people who want a bigger, more immersive display than a phone without jumping to a full-size tablet. Several major brands have already pushed into this space with performance-focused models, and Oppo’s Pad Mini looks ready to compete by focusing on three things that matter most to buyers: display quality, portability, and speed.
One of the headline features is the 8.8-inch OLED display, which is expected to use a productivity- and reading-friendly 3:2 aspect ratio. Leaks also point to a 144Hz refresh rate, which would make scrolling feel exceptionally fluid and could deliver smoother gameplay in supported titles. Oppo is also said to be going for a modern, premium front design, including uniformly slim bezels and a punch-hole selfie camera.
Portability appears to be a major priority. The Oppo Pad Mini is rumored to weigh around 279 grams and measure just 5.39mm thin, which would put it among the slimmest tablets in its category. That kind of lightweight build is exactly what many people want from a compact tablet: easy to hold for long stretches, comfortable for reading, and simple to toss into a small bag.
Performance is another big talking point. The Pad Mini is tipped to run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, a high-end chipset designed to deliver strong CPU and GPU output for demanding apps, multitasking, and gaming. While it may not be the absolute fastest chip in every comparison, it’s still expected to deliver flagship-level responsiveness and graphics performance that should be more than enough for most players and power users.
Battery and charging details that have surfaced should also appeal to anyone who’s tired of babying a device through the day. The Oppo Pad Mini is rumored to pack an 8,000mAh battery paired with 67W fast charging, a combination that suggests long sessions away from the charger and quick top-ups when you do need power.
Oppo has confirmed the Pad Mini’s global unveiling is set for April 21, alongside the Find X9 Ultra. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, but with an OLED panel, a high refresh rate, and a Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 reportedly under the hood, the Oppo Pad Mini is positioning itself as a premium compact tablet worth watching as the launch date approaches.
