Snapchat Introduces Feature to Ensure Friends Know You’ve Arrived Safely

Snapchat has introduced an innovative feature to help users stay connected and safe, called “Home Safe.” This new addition allows you to notify selected friends or family once you’ve arrived home safely after an outing.

To get started with Home Safe, you can set your home location by tapping your Bitmoji on the Snap Map and selecting “My Home.” When you’re out and want to reassure a friend or loved one, simply open a conversation, tap the Map icon, and press the Home Safe button.

Your designated friend will receive an automatic notification in the chat once you’ve reached home. It’s important to note that alerts can only be sent to those with whom you already share your location. As location sharing on Snap Map is disabled by default, your whereabouts remain private unless specifically shared.

Snapchat emphasizes that whether you’re returning from a date, a concert, or a getaway, Home Safe provides peace of mind to friends and family by confirming your safe arrival.

This feature rollout follows Snapchat’s announcement of more than 400 million monthly active users for Snap Map. Originally launched in 2017, Snap Map was designed to let users view friends’ locations and explore public snaps globally. It has since evolved to include features that help users find local hotspots and activities.
