In the newest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Activision and Treyarch have introduced an exciting event inspired by Netflix’s hit series Squid Game. Players are diving into modes like Pentathlon and Red Light, Green Light to work through the Squid Game Battle Pass. Meanwhile, other brave gamers are opting to tackle the eerie Dead Light, Green Light for their progression. While these new modes are stealing the spotlight, Treyarch has also introduced an informative Directed Mode to guide players through the intricacies of the Citadelle Des Morts Easter Egg. Let’s explore how you can conquer this captivating Easter Egg in either Standard or Directed mode.
In standard play, you can activate the Rampage Inducer to speed up the action; however, this feature is absent from Directed Mode, ensuring players don’t exploit it for quick camo, point, and experience gains. Cooperation is crucial from the start as players work to unlock doors leading to the castle.
With sufficient points, you can choose to ascend through the hillside by the stables (Deadshot Daiquiri) or navigate the Village Ascent (Speed Cola) to enter the castle’s Courtyard. Here, the adventure requires some cannon firepower. By accessing the cannon, cranking its wheel, and aligning it with a barricaded door, you can blast it open, unlocking new areas for exploration.
Once the inner sections of the castle are available, players must venture to the basement to uncover the Dubilette Room and activate Pack-A-Punch by passing through the Dining Hall and into the dungeon (Quick Revive). Quickly reach the opposite side to open the door to the Dubilette Room, where the Easter Egg journey begins.
Here, you’ll need to shoot the locks off a crate, unleashing a formidable Doppelghast enemy. Defeat it to claim the Blood Aetherium Crystal, crucial for unlocking Pack-A-Punch through a rift within the crate.
With weapons ready for upgrades, the focus shifts to locating Gabriel Krafft in a room behind Quick Revive. Following a dialogue that provides vital clues about finding the amulet necessary for acquiring the Sentinel Artifact, the phrase “Aperi Oculos Tuos Verum Videre” leads you to uncover hidden castle secrets.
Returning to the Dining Hall and approaching a Dragon Mural will reveal the Alchemical Lab, where Krafft provides further guidance about the Amulet and Edward Richtofen’s past dealings with the Syndicate.
To prepare further, players can unlock and upgrade the Bastard Swords, which are pivotal for tackling later stages of the Easter Egg. This includes completing the Undercroft Symbol Puzzle, where players use melee or C4 to reveal a board of symbols that correlate with vases inscribed with Roman Numerals found in the Tavern.
Completing the puzzle unveils a mysterious book missing pages, which must be found in the Sitting Rooms. Once all four Torn Page Fragments are gathered, they provide a sequence of symbols needed to activate the Points of Power traps.
Activating these traps requires strategy—Defeating zombies within them stops the trap and makes the symbol disappear, confirming you got the right order. Directed Mode simplifies this somewhat by indicating trap locations, though players still need to deduce their sequence.
Solving these challenges reveals hidden symbols in the Undercroft Stairway, each symbol shifting per playthrough, requiring attention to detail as they align with Roman Numerals representing creatures like the Dragon and Lion.
Gathering elemental artifacts becomes essential, helping to unlock powerful incantations necessary for dealing with further obstacles in the Easter Egg quest.
Lastly, statues of knights require respect through interactions ordered by Roman Numerals seen in the Undercroft, further complicating this intricate and thrilling Easter Egg journey. Interaction with corresponding incantations for each knight statue is paramount.
Embark on this immersive quest and not only elevate your gaming experience but also enjoy a fresh take on Call of Duty’s intense storytelling and gameplay dynamics! After casting the magical spell, you must examine the corresponding sword, triggering a remarkable interaction with the statue. The statue will gracefully salute and begin to glow, and if you’ve chosen correctly, a brilliant beam of light will shoot toward the center of the room.
Once you have shown respect to all four statues, they will send four beams of light skyward, causing the Mystic Orb to descend into the room’s center. Beware of a known visual glitch that might hide the Mystic Orb from view; should this occur, simply walk into the convergence of the beams and press the interact button. With the Mystic Orb in your grasp, it’s time to charge it. Conveniently, you can start this process in the Dining Hall, where you are already situated.
To charge the Mystic Orb, head across from Vulture Aid, where you’ll find a cylindrical frame designed to hold the orb. You’ll embark on the Light Mystic Orb challenge, which requires you to run around the Dining Hall collecting green orbs. Once you’ve gathered enough, a green wisp swirls around the orb, signaling its readiness. Now, it’s time to move either to the Courtyard or the Undercroft.
If you choose the Undercroft, the orb holder will be beside the Dark Incantation. To infuse the Mystic Orb with Dark Energy, achieve Dark Elemental Kills using the Shadow Rift Weapon Augment, Dark Incantations, Balmung’s Special Ability, or LT53 Kazimir. Once charged, a purple swirl will encase the orb. Retrieve it and proceed to the Courtyard.
In the Courtyard, locate the holder to the right of the Arsenal Holder. Here, you must vanquish zombies with fire damage, achievable with a Molotov, Blast Furnace, or Caliburn’s special ability. After securing enough fire-induced eliminations, reclaim the orb and make your way to the Town Square for the final Mystic Orb challenge.
With three wisps powering the Mystic Orb, place it into the last holder near the gate by the hillside. This challenge requires electric elemental kills, achieved with Shock Charges, Deadwire, Electric Incantations, or Durendal’s special ability. When fully charged, head back to the Undercroft Stairway and insert the Mystic Orb into the wall, revealing the Secret Study.
On the table, discover the Ancient Mystic Recording with a message from The Owl. The message sets you on a path of final trials and honor, hinting at your ultimate encounter with the Guardian of the Amulet.
Preparing for the Guardian battle involves collecting the Guardian Key from the table and equipping yourself with weapons capable of shattering armor and dealing quick damage. Once prepared, head to the Town Square, place the Guardian Key at the statue’s base, and prepare to face the formidable Golem, who transports you to the Cavern for the climactic battle.
Inside the Cavern, the Guardian initially withstands your attacks. Once vulnerable, target his armor plates and then his exposed weak spots, emitting a red and yellow glow. Upon depleting his shield to about two-thirds, he briefly becomes invulnerable, and you must fend off a wave of zombies.
When the second wave begins, the arena constricts as the Guardian launches fireballs, obstructing pathways. Remain vigilant to avoid being trampled. A self-revive could prove crucial here. Once reduced to one-third health, he again becomes immune, and you face another zombie onslaught.
In the final phase, the arena shrinks drastically—stay agile to dodge his charges and devastating strikes. Employ incantations strategically to damage both the boss and zombies. Defeat the Guardian to claim the Amulet, triggering Krafft’s urgent distress call.
In a plot twist, you return to the castle only to find Krafft fatally wounded by zombies. As he, drenched in blood, imparts his final wisdom about the Amulet’s peril and the whereabouts of Richtofen, players are faced with a choice: conclude the game or forge ahead for exclusive rewards, including Legendary Weapons and the coveted Ray Gun.
