Casio’s G-Shock collaboration with Colombian superstar J Balvin just became a lot easier to justify. The Casio G-Shock x J Balvin “Time Matters” watch (model DWE5600JB1A9) has dropped to $138 after a 40% discount from its original $230 price, shaving nearly $100 off what many fans once called an overpriced release for a 5600-series build.
When the watch launched in January 2025, it quickly caught attention for its bold look and clever extras, but plenty of buyers hesitated at the premium cost. Now, with the significantly lower price, the same limited-edition style and packaging feels far more competitive—especially when it lands in the range many people already pay for standard G-Shock models.
At its core, this is the iconic square G-Shock design based on the classic DW-5600 platform, but the collaboration adds standout personality and flexibility. The big selling point is the included interchangeable parts: you can swap between a neon-yellow resin bezel and strap or a stealthier black set that comes in the box. Both configurations feature small lightning-bolt graphics and “Ma G” text, referencing J Balvin’s signature catchphrase. It’s essentially two looks in one, making it easier to match outfits, moods, or collection displays without buying a second watch.
The DWE5600JB1A9 measures 48.9 × 43.8 × 13.7 mm and weighs 54 g. It uses a carbon-and-resin construction with Casio’s Carbon Core Guard structure, keeping it lightweight while maintaining the rugged feel G-Shock fans expect. And because it’s still a true G-Shock square, you get 200-meter water resistance for worry-free everyday wear, travel, and outdoor use.
Functionality sticks to the proven digital essentials that make the 5600 series so popular. You’ll find a 1/100-second stopwatch, a 24-hour countdown timer, a multi-function alarm, and an hourly time signal. There’s also a flash alert for alarms and timers, a bright Super Illuminator LED backlight, and a full auto-calendar that runs through 2099. Accuracy is rated at about ±15 seconds per month, and battery life is estimated at roughly five years using a CR2016 battery—right in line with what buyers expect from this module.
Beyond the spec sheet, the “Time Matters” edition is designed to feel special. Between the extra bezel and strap in the package, the loud neon-yellow option, and the artist-specific branding, it makes a stronger statement than most regular 5600-series releases. If you liked the concept at launch but couldn’t get past the price, the current discount turns this into a much more appealing pickup—particularly for collectors who want a recognizable collaboration piece without paying a steep early-adopter premium.
