Samsung appears to be gearing up to revolutionize the foldable phone market with a highly anticipated tri-fold smartphone. While a tri-fold prototype was teased by Samsung Display nearly three years ago, the latest reports suggest a significant evolution in its design. Unlike Huawei’s Mate XT, which wraps around the exterior, Samsung’s design is expected to fold inward twice using two hinges.
This innovative design seems to align with the Flex G concept showcased during trade events in 2022. The inward-folding mechanism not only promises enhanced durability by protecting the display when closed but also offers a sophisticated take on foldable technology. By adopting the Flex G design, Samsung can potentially use existing Ultra Thin Glass (UTG), ensuring a robust and premium feel.
The emerging device is rumored to have an ambitious 9 to 10 inches display when unfolded, notably larger than the Galaxy Z Fold6’s display. This increase in screen size could enhance productivity and entertainment experiences, positioning Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold as a flagship contender in the foldable smartphone arena. With technology and innovation at its helm, Samsung is carving its path to redefine user experiences and set a new benchmark for what foldable phones can achieve.
