Samsung Galaxy S27 Series Reportedly Enters Testing With Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6
Samsung’s next flagship lineup may already be moving through an important stage of development. New information suggests that the Galaxy S27 series is being tested with Qualcomm’s upcoming SM8975 platform, a chip expected to launch commercially as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6.
According to details from an alleged Qualcomm project portal screenshot, Samsung appears to be validating multiple Galaxy S27 builds using the SM8975 chipset. The entries listed include SS_SM8975_GS27_AP, SS_SM8975_GS27_KOR, and SS_SM8975_GS27_VZW. These appear to represent different regional and carrier-focused versions of the device, including Asia-Pacific, Korea, and a Verizon-specific model for the United States.
All three builds are reportedly tied to Qualcomm’s “Snapdragon_Premium_High_2026” software distribution. This internal naming suggests the hardware is connected to Qualcomm’s next wave of high-end mobile processors designed for premium Android smartphones.
The presence of several regional and carrier variants is notable because it usually indicates that development has moved beyond the earliest stages. In a typical flagship smartphone timeline, manufacturers begin with initial silicon bring-up before moving into deeper software, modem, radio frequency, and carrier validation. Seeing a Verizon-related build listed at this point suggests that U.S. carrier certification preparations may already be underway.
For Samsung, this would be a normal but important step in preparing the Galaxy S27 series for a future launch. Carrier testing can take months, especially for flagship devices expected to support advanced 5G features, multiple frequency bands, and region-specific network requirements.
Qualcomm is expected to introduce the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 alongside the standard Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 at its Snapdragon Summit, scheduled for September 22–24 in Hawaii. If Samsung follows its usual release pattern, the Galaxy S27 series would likely arrive several months after Qualcomm’s chip announcement, potentially during the first quarter of the following year.
The Galaxy S lineup has long been one of the biggest showcases for Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon platforms, particularly in markets such as the United States. While Samsung has also used its own Exynos chips in certain regions in the past, this early SM8975 testing points to Qualcomm playing a major role in at least some Galaxy S27 models.
At this stage, there are still many unknowns. Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S27 series, and Qualcomm has not yet confirmed the final branding or full specifications of the SM8975 platform. However, if the reported project entries are accurate, Samsung’s next-generation flagship phones are already well into the preparation phase.
The Galaxy S27 series is expected to build on Samsung’s premium smartphone strategy with next-generation performance, upgraded connectivity, improved AI features, and refined software integration. With Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset potentially at its core, the lineup could become one of the most powerful Android phone releases of its generation.
