Samsung recently unveiled the highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Edge, a sleek new addition featuring a dual-camera setup. Despite the buzz surrounding its launch, the initial reception fell short of expectations. Nevertheless, the South Korean tech giant remains committed to the Edge series, aiming for enhancements in the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge.
Released in May 2025, the Galaxy S25 Edge captivated attention with its ultra-thin design, measuring just 5.84 inches thick. While its slim form factor drew praise, some users expressed concerns about certain compromises, such as a smaller battery and the absence of a telephoto lens.
Despite mixed reactions, Samsung remains undeterred, focusing on the future of the Edge model. According to reports, plans for the Galaxy S26 Edge are already underway, with discussions of possibly replacing one of the Galaxy S devices in the lineup.
This potential swap might not be surprising since the S26 Edge and its counterpart, the S26 Plus, share similar dimensions and display sizes. However, the Edge model offers a more premium, slimmer appearance. Thus, consolidating similar models could streamline the lineup.
A significant point of contention with the S25 Edge is its reduced battery capacity at 3,900mAh, compared to the S25 Plus, which boasts a larger battery. Samsung aims to address these concerns in the next-generation Edge model. However, the exact timing of the release remains uncertain, as it may hinge on the S25 Edge’s market performance.
For now, Samsung seems to be experimenting with its flagship models, considering a shift from a mid-range Plus model to a sleeker, more premium Edge design.
