Japan Display Inc. (JDI) has announced a significant restructuring plan that will impact many of its employees. By May 15, the company revealed it would be laying off over 1,000 workers in Japan. This decision comes as part of efforts to streamline operations, affecting almost half of its domestic workforce, which stood at about 2,700 employees as of March 2025. On a global scale, the company’s headcount—currently around 4,100—will decrease by nearly one-third. These changes reflect JDI’s strategy to adapt and remain competitive in the ever-evolving tech landscape.
