Samsung Unveils Budget-Friendly Smartphone With Six Years of Software Support

Samsung Galaxy A27 5G launches with Snapdragon power, 120Hz AMOLED display, and six years of updates

Samsung has added a new budget-friendly 5G smartphone to its popular Galaxy A lineup with the launch of the Galaxy A27 5G. Arriving as the successor to the Galaxy A26 5G, the new model focuses on faster performance, long-term software support, and a smooth display experience, while making a few changes to the camera setup.

One of the biggest upgrades on the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G is its processor. Samsung has moved away from its own Exynos chip for this model and equipped the phone with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 6 Gen 3. Built on a 4 nm process, the chipset should offer better efficiency and stronger everyday performance for browsing, multitasking, streaming, social media, and casual gaming.

The Galaxy A27 5G comes with 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Users who need more space for photos, videos, apps, and files can expand storage by up to 2 TB using a microSD card, which remains a valuable feature in the mid-range smartphone market.

On the front, the phone features a large 6.7-inch Full HD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. This should make scrolling, animations, and supported games feel smoother compared to standard 60 Hz screens. The Super AMOLED panel also promises vibrant colors and deep contrast, making the Galaxy A27 5G a strong option for users who watch a lot of videos or spend time on social apps.

The camera system is where Samsung has made some trade-offs. The Galaxy A27 5G still includes a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization, which should help reduce blur in photos and videos. It is joined by a 2 MP macro camera for close-up shots. However, the ultra-wide camera has been reduced to 5 MP, compared with the 8 MP sensor found on the previous generation. The front camera has also changed, with the new model offering a 12 MP selfie camera.

Battery life remains a key selling point. The Galaxy A27 5G packs a 5,000 mAh battery, matching its predecessor. It supports 25 W wired charging, which is typical for many Samsung mid-range phones. With the more efficient Snapdragon chipset, the device should be able to deliver dependable all-day use for most users.

Software support is another major highlight. The Galaxy A27 5G runs Android 16 with One UI 8.5 out of the box. Samsung is promising six major Android OS upgrades, meaning the phone is expected to receive updates through Android 22. It will also receive six years of security patches, extending support until 2032. This makes the Galaxy A27 5G especially appealing for buyers who want a phone they can keep for several years.

The device also comes with an IP64 rating, offering protection against dust and splashes. In terms of design, it measures 7.8 mm thick and weighs around 200 grams. Color options include black, blue, and light pink.

Samsung Galaxy A27 5G pricing in Europe starts at €349 for the 128 GB version. The 256 GB model is priced at €439. Sales are scheduled to begin on July 3 through Samsung’s official store and authorized retailers.

With a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 processor, a 120 Hz Super AMOLED display, expandable storage, a 5,000 mAh battery, and six years of software support, the Samsung Galaxy A27 5G looks like a strong new contender in the affordable 5G smartphone segment. While the camera changes may disappoint some users, the long update policy and improved performance could make it an attractive choice for budget-conscious buyers looking for a reliable Samsung phone.
