In a significant development for Samsung’s global manufacturing operations, the tech giant is gearing up to start laptop production at its expansive Noida facility in India. Originally established in 1995 for manufacturing television sets, the Noida factory has evolved over time and currently stands as one of the largest mobile phone manufacturing units for Samsung.
The factory also produces OLED panels for smartphones and is set to expand its manufacturing portfolio to include laptops. This move underlines Samsung’s commitment to diversifying its product offerings at the Noida complex.
Production of Laptops to Commence in Noida This Year
TM Roh, the head of Samsung’s MX business, confirmed that laptop production in India is slated to begin within the year. This announcement comes as Roh visits India, acknowledging its growing value as a manufacturing hub for the company. Samsung has taken full advantage of the incentives offered by local and central governments, which have spurred the expansion of its manufacturing footprint in the region.
Roh emphasized that Noida represents Samsung’s second-largest production base, and although there may be operational adjustments to meet the global demand, its significance within Samsung’s production network is unwavering. It’s noteworthy that Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone series, the Galaxy S24, is also assembled at the Noida factory.
Adding laptops to its Noida production lineup signals a new era for Samsung in India and showcases the company’s adaptability and strategic planning in catering to globe-spanning markets from the subcontinent.
