Samsung is continuing its tradition of offering both 4G and 5G versions of its affordable smartphones with the introduction of the Galaxy A16 4G. This latest model closely resembles its 5G counterpart, with the key difference being its processor.
Unveiled just over a week after the Galaxy A16 5G, the 4G version retains the sleek design and most of the specifications found in its 5G sibling. The Galaxy A16 4G features a 6.7-inch Super AMOLED display with a smooth 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it runs on MediaTek’s Helio G99 processor, a powerhouse also found in the Galaxy A15 4G. Currently, the smartphone is available with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, which can be expanded, with possibilities of other configurations emerging in different regions.
Camera enthusiasts will appreciate the trio of rear cameras, including a 50MP main sensor, a 5MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. Selfies are handled by a 13MP front-facing camera. For added convenience, the device supports dual SIMs, has NFC capabilities, and includes a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Despite its slim profile, the Galaxy A16 4G doesn’t skimp on battery life, thanks to its robust 5,000mAh battery that offers 25W fast charging. But buyers will need to provide their own charger, as one is not included in the box. Samsung ships the device with Android 14 and promises six OS updates alongside six years of security updates, providing users a long lifespan for their investment. Moreover, with an IP54 rating, the device is resistant to dust and water splashes.
Available in Gray, Green, and Midnight Blue—though the latter appears almost black—the phone sports a matte finish that offers a premium feel. While the official pricing hasn’t been released, it’ll likely be more affordable than its 5G version, which is priced at €249. The Galaxy A16 4G is set to hit the shelves in November in France, and it’s sure to attract attention with its combination of features and affordability.
This new release from Samsung is an exciting option for those looking for a capable smartphone with long-term support at a budget-friendly price. Keep an eye out for its launch next month!
