Samsung Display Unveils World’s First 31.5-Inch 4K 360Hz QD-OLED Monitor Panel
Samsung Display has introduced a major breakthrough for high-end gaming monitors: a 31.5-inch QD-OLED panel that can run at 4K resolution with a 360Hz refresh rate. The new display technology is expected to be shown at Computex 2026 and could set a new standard for premium gaming, esports, and professional monitor performance.
Until now, monitor buyers often had to choose between ultra-sharp 4K visuals at lower refresh rates or faster 360Hz gameplay at reduced resolutions such as QHD. Samsung Display’s new panel removes that compromise by delivering both 4K clarity and 360Hz speed in one screen.
To make this possible, Samsung Display redesigned the panel’s internal driving circuitry so it can handle the huge amount of data required for 4K at 360 frames per second. This improvement allows the screen to maintain high resolution and ultra-fast motion performance at the same time, making it especially appealing for competitive gamers who want speed without giving up visual quality.
The panel also includes a dual-mode feature for users who need even higher refresh rates. With this mode, the display can switch from 4K to 1080p and increase the refresh rate up to 680Hz. That gives esports players and fast-paced action game fans an option for extremely smooth motion and lower perceived input delay when maximum speed matters more than resolution.
Another important upgrade is its VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certification. This means the panel can reach a peak brightness of at least 600 nits while preserving the deep black levels OLED displays are known for. The result should be stronger contrast, more detailed dark scenes, and brighter highlights in HDR games, movies, and creative content.
Samsung Display has also addressed one of the common concerns with OLED monitor panels: text clarity. The company has revised the subpixel arrangement with a vertical V-Stripe layout, aligning the red, green, and blue subpixels in a way designed to improve text sharpness and reduce blurry edges. This should make the panel more practical not only for gaming, but also for productivity, reading, browsing, and content creation.
The upcoming 31.5-inch QD-OLED panel could become one of the most advanced monitor displays on the market when it reaches consumer products. With 4K resolution, a 360Hz refresh rate, 1080p at 680Hz dual-mode support, HDR True Black 600 performance, and improved text rendering, it targets users who want a single monitor capable of handling competitive gaming, immersive entertainment, and everyday work.
Samsung Display expects mass production to begin in the second half of 2026. The company is also working with ten major global technology brands to bring monitors based on this new QD-OLED panel to market.
