Konami may already be planning the future of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection, and the next step could be one fans have been waiting for. A new rumor suggests that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance and Metal Gear Solid V could be central to a potential Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 3.
The claim comes from journalist Jordan Middler, who discussed the possibility during an appearance on The Nextlander Podcast. According to the rumor, Konami has looked into a third Master Collection package that would include Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, and Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
If true, the biggest highlight may be Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. PlatinumGames’ fast-paced action spin-off has remained a fan favorite thanks to its stylish combat, over-the-top boss battles, and memorable soundtrack. However, the game has become harder to play on some modern platforms, making a proper current-generation port a major draw for longtime fans and newcomers alike.
Metal Gear Solid V would reportedly receive native versions for modern consoles, with technical upgrades such as 60 FPS support. That would make Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain feel smoother and more in line with current hardware expectations. However, fans hoping for restored story content from The Phantom Pain may want to keep expectations in check. The rumor suggests that any update would focus on performance and technical enhancements rather than bringing back unfinished or cut material.
A third collection would make sense for Konami’s broader effort to preserve and re-release the Metal Gear series on modern systems.
