RTX 5070 Ti: Early Benchmarks Show Slight Lead Over RTX 4070, Falls Short of RTX 4070 Ti

The Nvidia GeForce RTX 5070 Ti is making waves with its recent debut and performance tests on the PassMark benchmark site. This new addition to the Blackwell series has generated some buzz with a promising average score, though it falls short of surpassing its predecessor, the RTX 4070 Ti, particularly in the GPU Compute benchmark.

It’s not entirely clear whether the mixed results are due to the benchmarks themselves or the cards. The RTX 5090 has been similarly unpredictable, sometimes leading and other times trailing the RTX 4090. Now, the RTX 5070 Ti is following suit with its own set of mixed generational performance results.

The RTX 5070 Ti managed to achieve an average of 30,728 points, which, while respectable, still couldn’t outdo the older RTX 4070 Ti and RTX 4070 Ti Super. However, it’s worth noting that these figures are drawn from just 19 samples. As more data is collected and with possible driver updates and hardware optimizations, the performance could improve. Currently, the RTX 5070 Ti is trailing the RTX 4070 Ti by only 3.25%, and the RTX 4070 Ti Super by 3.37%, based on these limited numbers.

Despite this, there’s no need for owners of the RTX 5070 Ti to be overly concerned. The card has shown promising performance in other benchmarks, often outperforming previous RTX 4070 models.

However, the GPU Compute score reveals a different story, with the RTX 5070 Ti scoring significantly lower than the RTX 4070 Ti. With 15,806 operations per second compared to the 18,807 of the RTX 4070 Ti, the new card lags by nearly 16%. Even with innovations like GDDR7 memory and updated RT and Tensor cores, it’s surprising to see the RTX 5070 Ti scoring close to standard RTX 4070 levels in GPU Compute tests.

As the RTX 5070 Ti continues to be tested and more users contribute their results, these early figures might shift. Regardless, the card promises to deliver for future gaming and tech enthusiasts.
