RPCS3 just made it much easier to jump into your favorite PlayStation 3 games on PC, especially if Steam is where you launch almost everything. The emulator’s latest update adds a simple but highly convenient feature: the ability to add PS3 games directly to your Steam library and start them from there, without first opening the RPCS3 interface.
This change is a big deal because Steam has become the go-to hub for PC gaming. It’s not only packed with a massive game library, but it also offers a clean, familiar interface that works great on desktops, laptops, and gaming handhelds. By letting players launch PS3 titles from Steam, RPCS3 is effectively bringing emulated games into the same quick-access workflow as native PC games.
The process is straightforward. Inside RPCS3, you can add a PlayStation 3 game to Steam by using the built-in option found under Manage Game and then selecting Create Steam Shortcut. Once you do that, the PS3 title shows up in your Steam library list like any other entry. From that point on, launching the game is as simple as clicking Play in Steam, with no need to navigate the emulator’s UI every time.
It’s an especially welcome upgrade for handheld PC gaming. On devices where Steam is often the main launcher, being able to start PS3 games from the same library makes the experience feel far more seamless. RPCS3 also supports Steam’s Big Picture Mode for these shortcuts, meaning you can browse and launch your PS3 library with a controller-friendly interface that fits naturally into a living-room or handheld setup.
The update arrives alongside other recent improvements for the emulator. RPCS3 has been moving quickly, including adding support for directly mounting PS3 ISO files, which streamlines game setup and access. Compatibility continues to improve, too. According to the latest notes, nearly 70% of PlayStation 3 titles can run on the emulator, making it a strong option for players looking to revisit a large portion of the PS3 catalog on PC.
RPCS3’s momentum doesn’t stop there. A recent expansion to Windows ARM64 also opened the door to a wider range of PCs and devices, helping the emulator reach even more users. Combined with Steam library integration and Big Picture Mode launching, the result is a smoother, more modern way to enjoy PlayStation 3 games—faster to access, easier to manage, and better aligned with how most PC gamers play today.
