Rockchip Records Strong First-Half 2026 Growth as Edge AI Chip Demand Accelerates
Chinese AIoT chip designer Rockchip delivered a standout performance in the first half of 2026, reporting record revenue and profit as demand for edge AI technology continued to rise across multiple device categories.
The company’s revenue climbed 40.6% year on year to CNY 2.88 billion, equal to about US$427 million. Net profit grew even faster, jumping 61.73% to CNY 859 million. The results highlight Rockchip’s growing momentum in the artificial intelligence of things market, where more devices are being equipped with local AI processing capabilities.
Rockchip’s strong performance reflects a broader shift in the semiconductor industry. As artificial intelligence moves beyond data centers and into everyday products, chipmakers focused on edge AI are seeing increasing demand. Edge AI allows devices to process data locally instead of relying entirely on cloud servers. This can reduce latency, improve privacy, lower bandwidth usage, and make smart devices more responsive.
The company has built its business around chips used in AIoT products, including smart displays, tablets, industrial equipment, surveillance systems, in-vehicle devices, and other connected hardware. As manufacturers add more AI-driven features to consumer and commercial products, demand for efficient processors capable of handling these workloads continues to expand.
The sharp rise in net profit suggests Rockchip is not only growing sales but also improving profitability as its edge AI chip business scales. Higher adoption of AI-powered devices may be helping the company benefit from stronger product demand and better operating leverage.
China’s domestic semiconductor sector has also been gaining attention as local companies work to strengthen supply chains and develop competitive chip technologies. Rockchip’s latest financial results show that AIoT and edge computing remain important growth areas within the market.
The first-half 2026 figures place Rockchip in a strong position heading into the rest of the year. With artificial intelligence becoming a standard feature in more connected devices, the market for edge AI chips is expected to remain active. Companies that can deliver power-efficient, high-performance processors for smart hardware may continue to benefit from this trend.
Rockchip’s record revenue and profit underline the rapid expansion of edge AI adoption. As AI moves closer to the device level, the company appears well positioned to capture demand from industries looking to build faster, smarter, and more capable connected products.
