Gearbox Publishing and Hopoo Games are expanding the chaos of Risk of Rain 2 with a brand-new DLC pack called Hallowed Concepts. While the release date hasn’t been revealed yet, the newly announced expansion is already setting the tone for a darker, curse-laden journey that leans hard into eerie mystery and high-stakes survival.
Hallowed Concepts promises to push Risk of Rain 2’s action roguelike formula into unsettling new territory. The DLC teases secrets tied to the N’tormat, where whispers about darkness and death are no longer just rumors—they’re becoming impossible to ignore. Players who dare to dig deeper can expect powerful curses to overcome, strange new enemies to fight, and deadly trials designed to test even the most seasoned survivors. And throughout it all, the message is clear: She is watching.
Exploration also gets a big boost. Familiar locations are returning with a vengeance, including the Damp Caverns, where fungal beasts are awakening in the damp, rotting depths. Another new threat looms in the Tenebrous Quagmire, where villages echo with the frantic gibbering of the Lynx Tribe. The journey continues into The Lurid Basilica, a sacred site once again filled with the chanting of Her followers, reinforcing the DLC’s ominous theme and story direction.
Along with new stages, Hallowed Concepts will add two new Survivors, giving players fresh playstyles and new ways to tackle the relentless enemy waves and unpredictable runs the game is known for.
Risk of Rain 2 is currently available on PC (Steam), Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
