Introducing the Pilet, an innovative handheld computing system that boasts impressive versatility and potential. Built upon the robust foundation of the Raspberry Pi 5, this new mobile computing marvel promises to be a game-changer for tech enthusiasts and gamers alike.
Originally codenamed “Consolo,” the Pilet is gearing up for its debut via a crowdfunding campaign slated for early 2025. Enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating this launch, with the developers at Soulscircuit suggesting a target price of around $250. While the exact release date remains under wraps, an engineering sample has been confirmed, lending credibility to early 2025 launch speculations.
The Pilet will be available in two distinct versions: the Pilet 5 Console and the Pilet 7 Tablet. For those who prefer tactile precision, the Pilet 5 Console delivers with a 5-inch display paired with a keyboard. This version boasts a joystick, rotary controls, and action keys positioned just above the keyboard, making it a compact powerhouse for interactive projects and gaming escapades.
Meanwhile, the Pilet 7 Tablet takes a more modular approach. Equipped with a 7-inch display, users can seamlessly attach or detach a keyboard as needed, complemented by a touchpad. For those moments when gaming takes priority, the keyboard can be swapped with an optional gamepad module, transforming the device into a dedicated gaming station.
Under the hood, both models feature support for NVMe-SSD, offering substantial storage flexibility. Enhanced passive cooling ensures efficient thermal management, and the systems can be mounted on a VESA bracket for convenient use in various environments. Thanks to the Hailo 8L module, the Pilet also supports AI acceleration, broadening its capabilities for AI-driven applications.
Battery life is another standout feature, with the Pilet offering up to seven hours of uninterrupted usage, powered by dual 8,000-mAh batteries.
Beyond just a computing device, the Pilet exemplifies a new wave of portable technology—a testament to the evolving landscape of compact and powerful systems. Whether as a productivity tool, a gaming console, or an AI exploration platform, it is poised to capture the imagination of tech enthusiasts everywhere.
