Retroid Pocket 6 debuts with a bold redesign, faster processor, and larger battery for $229

Retroid has unveiled the Pocket 6, its most powerful Android gaming handheld to date, bringing a faster display, a flagship-level processor, and a bigger battery inside a refreshed, more ergonomic shell.

The Pocket 6 makes a strong first impression with rounder sides for a more comfortable grip and an updated front layout. An array of function buttons sits beneath the screen, flanked by front-facing speakers for clearer audio. There’s a redesigned D-pad, circular surrounds around the face buttons, and the familiar symmetrical thumbstick placement that some players prefer. Air vents have been reworked for improved airflow, and the device will be offered in six color options.

At the center is a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 1920 x 1080 resolution that now runs at a silky-smooth 120Hz, doubling the refresh rate of the previous generation. Power comes from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, a major leap over the last model and a strong fit for demanding Android games and emulation. Buyers can choose between two configurations: 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM with 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, or 12GB of LPDDR5X with 256GB of UFS 3.1.

Battery life gets a boost thanks to a 6,000mAh cell, paired with 27W fast wired charging to get you back in the action quickly. Connectivity and I/O are equally robust, including a USB 3.1 Type-C port with DisplayPort output up to 4K at 60fps, an audio jack, a microSD card slot for easy storage expansion, Wi‑Fi 7 for next-gen wireless speeds, and Bluetooth 5.3 for peripherals. The handheld ships with Android 13, giving you access to a vast library of games and apps.
