The new Zen 5 series is set to redefine premium workstations as AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX series processors begin to appear in retail outlets, hinting at their imminent availability. These advanced chips, which made waves at Computex, are poised for a July launch and are now being listed by various retailers.
B&H Photo Video is gearing up for this release, featuring several models from the 9000WX series on their site. While the exact prices and launch dates remain under wraps, pre-orders are slated to begin on July 23rd, suggesting shipments could follow shortly thereafter. Among the models available for pre-order are:
– Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX: 96 cores, 128 threads
– Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9985WX: 64 cores, 128 threads
– Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9975WX: 32 cores, 62 threads
– Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9675WX: 24 cores, 48 threads
Although two models, the 9955WX and 9945X, aren’t listed yet, speculation suggests they might launch a bit later. AMD is focused on delivering unparalleled workstation performance, and the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9995WX recently showcased impressive multi-threaded benchmark results. Though unofficially priced at over $12,000, expectations suggest it may be closer to $10,000.
These Zen 5-based processors promise significant power, with AMD claiming a 16% speed increase over previous models in workstation applications, and a 25% gain in AI and machine learning tasks. When compared to Intel’s Xeon W9-3595X, AMD highlights up to 108% performance improvement, with observed increases ranging from 22% to 92% across different applications due to the higher core and thread count. Overall, the Ryzen Threadripper PRO 9000WX series is geared towards excelling in AI workloads while also delivering a 26% generational boost in performance.
