reMarkable 3.28 Update Brings Capture Tool, More Colors, Better EPUB Reading, and Easier Sharing
reMarkable has rolled out software version 3.28 for its E Ink tablets, including models such as the reMarkable Paper Pro. The latest update focuses on making note-taking, reading, file handling, and content sharing smoother and more flexible.
One of the biggest additions is the new Capture Tool. This feature lets users copy visual content directly from the screen in a much easier way. By using the Selection Tool, users can draw around any area in any shape and turn that selected content into an image. The captured image can then be moved around within the same notebook or transferred to another notebook.
This should be especially useful for students, researchers, professionals, and anyone who works with PDFs, diagrams, sketches, or reference materials. Instead of relying on awkward workarounds, users can quickly extract important visuals and reuse them inside their notes.
The update also improves the color experience on supported reMarkable devices. Version 3.28 adds new color options, including green, yellow, cyan, and magenta. Existing gray tones have also been refined, giving users more control when organizing notes, highlighting ideas, or creating more visually structured documents.
EPUB reading also gets a noticeable upgrade. The refreshed reading experience includes interface improvements, better formatting, and broader language support. These changes should make reading digital books and long-form documents more comfortable on reMarkable’s distraction-free E Ink display.
Sharing has been made simpler as well. The Share button is now placed in the main toolbar, making it easier to access. The sharing interface has also been redesigned to feel more streamlined, reducing the number of steps needed to send or export content.
File management receives several practical improvements in this release. Users can now import JPG and PNG images from Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive through the Convert to Notebook option. Each imported image is placed into its own notebook, making it easier to organize visual files and reference images.
The reMarkable Web App also gains drag-and-drop file support, allowing users to move files more quickly from a computer to their device workflow. This small but useful change should make everyday document handling feel more natural.
Alongside these new tools and interface changes, software version 3.28 includes minor bug fixes and general adjustments. While the company has not detailed every fix, the update appears aimed at improving reliability and polishing the overall user experience.
With the new Capture Tool, expanded color palette, improved EPUB support, smoother sharing, and better cloud image imports, reMarkable’s latest update makes its E Ink tablets more versatile for reading, studying, sketching, planning, and digital note-taking.
