In a recent interview, CEO John Mills shared that the app had been downloaded an impressive 2 million times since the beginning of the week and had attracted 14 million unique users.
Operating as a nonprofit primarily funded through donations, Watch Duty’s team is committed to community safety with 15 full-time staff and 200 volunteers. Mills also emphasized the company’s transparent approach, reassuring users that their personal data is minimally collected and firmly stating his commitment to never sell this information. “I owe it to my community to not be a disaster capitalist,” Mills affirmed, underlining the app’s dedication to serve rather than profit.
