Razer has officially introduced the Viper V4 Pro, the next-generation successor to the popular Viper V3 Pro wireless gaming mouse. Instead of chasing flashy new gimmicks, this release is all about refining what competitive players already liked: faster response, more consistent tracking, and a lighter, more agile build designed for esports-level performance.
The Razer Viper V4 Pro is available now in black and white for $159.99, positioning it firmly in the premium wireless gaming mouse category.
Lighter build with subtle changes for better control
One of the big talking points is weight. The Viper V4 Pro drops to 49 grams, which is about 5 grams lighter than the Viper V3 Pro. That may sound small, but for fast-paced shooters and high-sensitivity aim styles, shaving off a few grams can make the mouse feel noticeably easier to flick, stop, and reposition.
Razer achieved the lower weight by using a smaller PCB and thinner top and bottom shells. Even with the reduced mass, the company says the mouse remains sturdy thanks to a polyamide fiber material intended to maintain rigidity while keeping the overall structure lean.
Upgraded 50K optical sensor and more precise tuning
At the heart of the Viper V4 Pro is the Gen 3 Focus Pro 50K optical sensor, aiming to deliver extremely high sensitivity and improved precision. A key feature here is Frame Sync, which is designed to help produce more consistent tracking.
Customization also gets a boost through Synapse 4. Players can fine-tune DPI in 1-step increments, which is useful for dialing in an exact sensitivity rather than relying on larger preset jumps. There’s also more control over lift-off and landing distances with Asymmetric Cut-off, allowing users to set how the sensor behaves when the mouse is lifted and placed back down—an important detail for competitive gamers who frequently reposition.
8000Hz polling support and a major battery life improvement
Like its predecessor, the Viper V4 Pro supports up to an 8000Hz polling rate when paired with the updated wireless dongle. For players chasing the lowest possible input delay, high polling can be an advantage, especially in esports and competitive FPS titles.
Battery life is another area where the Viper V4 Pro improves on the previous model. At a standard 1000Hz polling rate, it’s rated for up to 180 hours of use, a big leap from the Viper V3 Pro’s 95 hours. That means fewer charging breaks and more consistent practice time for tournament-minded players.
New scroll encoder and updated optical switches
Razer also changes the internal approach to the scroll wheel by switching to an optical scroll wheel encoder instead of a mechanical one. The potential upside is smoother scrolling and quieter operation, which can be welcome both for everyday use and in-game weapon switching.
Click feel may be slightly different this time around as well. The Viper V4 Pro uses Gen 4 optical switches, and early impressions indicate they feel more “clicky,” similar to what some players have noticed on other recent Razer esports mice. Whether that’s better or worse will depend on personal preference—some gamers love crisp, tactile clicks, while others prefer a softer press.
Built for esports, priced for enthusiasts
Razer is clearly aiming this mouse at serious competitive players, and the company highlights endorsements from major esports names such as Faker and NiKo. Still, at $159.99, it’s not a casual purchase. For many gamers, the main question will be whether the lighter weight, 50K sensor upgrades, improved battery life, and updated internals justify upgrading from an existing high-end wireless mouse.
For players who prioritize low latency, consistent tracking, and a super-light feel in a premium wireless gaming mouse, the Razer Viper V4 Pro is positioned as a focused performance upgrade rather than a complete redesign.
