Razer Unveils a Pocket-Sized Gaming Controller That Folds Like a Credit Card

Razer Prio foldable USB-C gaming controller turns your phone into a pocket console

Razer has introduced the Prio, a new foldable mobile gaming controller built for iPhone and Android users who want console-style controls without carrying a bulky gamepad. The standout feature is its ultra-portable design: the controller folds down to roughly the size of a credit card, making it small enough to slip into a pocket, bag, or everyday carry kit.

When folded, the Razer Prio measures 107 × 67 × 23 mm and weighs just 101 g. With a quick twist, it opens into a full-size gamepad layout capable of holding smartphones with displays up to 7 inches. That means it is designed to fit large flagship phones, including models in the same size class as the iPhone 17 Pro Max and Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.

Despite its compact form, the Prio does not sacrifice the control setup gamers expect. It includes dual analog sticks, a four-way D-pad, face buttons, shoulder bumpers, and triggers, giving mobile players a familiar console-like experience for action games, racing titles, shooters, cloud gaming, and remote play.

One of the most interesting details is the analog stick design. Razer says the Prio uses capacitive sensing instead of traditional physical contacts. This approach is intended to reduce mechanical wear over time and help lower the chances of stick drift, a common issue with many controllers.

The Razer Prio connects directly to smartphones through USB-C, which means there is no Bluetooth pairing process and no separate battery to charge. It draws power from the phone and delivers a wired low-latency connection, making it a practical option for players who want responsive controls while gaming on the move.

Razer also says the controller is compatible with many slim and medium-sized phone cases, so users may not need to remove their case before playing. That small convenience could make a big difference for people who want to quickly start gaming during a commute, lunch break, airport wait, or between classes.

The controller supports iPhones running iOS 18 and Android phones running Android 14 or later. It is designed for native mobile games as well as cloud and remote gaming services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming, Steam Link, PS Remote Play, and Razer PC Remote Play. A dedicated Razer Cortex Mobile button also gives users fast access to their game library.

With the Prio, Razer appears to be targeting one of the biggest problems with mobile controllers: portability. Traditional phone gamepads can offer great controls, but they are often too large or awkward to carry every day. By folding down to a compact size while still expanding into a full controller, the Prio aims to make mobile gaming feel more convenient and more spontaneous.

The Razer Prio is the first product in the company’s new ultra-portable mobile gaming controller lineup. Pricing and release date details have not yet been announced.
