Xiaomi has officially unveiled its next wave of Poco M-series phones for the global market: the Poco M8 Pro 5G and the Poco M8 5G. Positioned as the follow-up to last year’s Poco M7 Pro 5G, the new lineup focuses on the upgrades most midrange buyers care about right now—fresh design changes, a new chipset choice, and a noticeably larger battery aimed at longer daily endurance.
One of the first differences you’ll notice is the updated build. The Poco M8 Pro 5G is now slightly bigger and more substantial in-hand than its predecessor, coming in at 8.31 mm thick and weighing about 205.9 grams. That’s a jump from the previous model’s 7.99 mm thickness and 190-gram weight, a change likely influenced by the larger battery and updated internal hardware.
Performance also takes a new direction this year, as Xiaomi has moved to a Qualcomm platform for the Poco M8 Pro 5G. It runs on the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and is offered with up to 12 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. Based on the listed configurations, buyers can expect two main variants: 8 GB RAM with 256 GB storage, and 12 GB RAM with 512 GB storage.
On the front, the Poco M8 Pro 5G steps up with a 6.83-inch CrystalRes AMOLED display designed for both smooth scrolling and high-impact media playback. It features a 2772 x 1280 resolution, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness rating of 3,000 nits, which should help with visibility in bright outdoor conditions. The screen also supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+, and it’s protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for improved durability against drops and scratches.
Camera hardware keeps things practical while adding features that many users prioritize. The rear camera system includes a 50 MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS) paired with an 8 MP ultrawide camera for group shots and landscapes. For selfies and video calls, there’s a 32 MP front-facing camera.
Battery is one of the headline upgrades. The Poco M8 Pro 5G packs a 6,500 mAh battery—bigger than before—paired with 100 W wired fast charging. It also supports 22.5 W reverse wired charging, making it possible to top up accessories or another phone in a pinch.
Beyond the core specs, Xiaomi is leaning into a feature-rich package. The Poco M8 Pro 5G carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance, an in-display fingerprint sensor, symmetrical stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and NFC support. It also arrives with an AI-focused feature set that includes tools like Circle to Search with Google and an AI Creativity Assistant, along with additional AI features.
As of now, Xiaomi hasn’t announced official pricing or exact availability details for the Poco M8 Pro 5G. What is confirmed is the color selection—silver, black, and green—and the two memory configurations: 8 GB + 256 GB and 12 GB + 512 GB.
