Philips Hue has started rolling out a fresh software update for many of its smart home accessories, focusing on better day-to-day reliability for people who use battery-powered Hue devices around the house. The new release, identified as software version 67.116.1/2.85.1/2.85.5, is arriving over the air (OTA) and targets most Philips Hue battery-powered accessories.
This is the first broader accessories update since the previous rollout in December 2024, which delivered smaller bug fixes. With the February 2026 update, Philips Hue is placing emphasis on two practical improvements that many smart home users care about: more trustworthy battery reporting and a fix for motion sensor behavior.
More accurate battery status reporting for Hue accessories
One of the biggest changes in this update is improved accuracy for battery status information. If you rely on accessories like the Hue Smart Wireless Dimmer Switch V2 and other battery-powered Hue controls and sensors, this should make battery readings in the Philips Hue app more dependable. Better battery status accuracy can help prevent surprise drop-offs, reduce unnecessary battery swaps, and make it easier to plan maintenance for devices spread across multiple rooms.
Motion sensor fix for low sensitivity issues
Philips Hue also includes a specific fix for the Hue Motion Sensor. According to the update notes, the patch addresses a problem where low sensitivity settings were not behaving as expected. For users who intentionally choose low sensitivity to avoid false triggers—such as from pets, HVAC airflow, or activity in nearby spaces—this adjustment should help the motion sensor respond more consistently to the selected setting.
Additional stability improvements
Beyond the highlighted changes, Philips Hue notes that the update includes other minor bug fixes and improvements, though the company hasn’t shared an itemized breakdown. These kinds of background refinements typically aim to improve stability, reduce glitches, and keep accessories working smoothly with the broader Hue ecosystem.
Which devices are included (and which are not)
This software update is being delivered to most Philips Hue battery-powered accessories. However, it does not apply to Philips Hue Secure cameras, which are excluded from this rollout.
How to get the update
The Philips Hue accessories update should install automatically through the Philips Hue app for eligible devices. If you want to make sure your system is set to receive updates without manual checks, open the Philips Hue app and confirm Automatic update is enabled by going to Settings > Software update > Automatic update.
Once the rollout reaches your devices, you should see the new version number (67.116.1/2.85.1/2.85.5) reflected in your accessory software details in the app.
