Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold patent images revealed

Patents Hint the Galaxy Z TriFold Packs Three Batteries and Stays Impressively Slim When Fully Unfolded

Samsung’s first tri-fold flagship may still be under wraps, but newly surfaced patent drawings are painting a clearer picture of what to expect from the rumored Galaxy Z TriFold. The filings point to an ultra-slim design in tablet mode, a dual-hinge structure, and a three-cell battery system that could push capacity beyond 5,000 mAh.

The patent imagery outlines a tri-fold layout connected by two hinge mechanisms, designed to keep all three sections aligned and fold without leaving a visible gap between panels. When fully unfolded, the device appears remarkably thin, underscoring Samsung’s push to make a tablet-sized canvas that still feels light and manageable in hand. That slimness should also make one-handed folding less cumbersome.

Inside, the schematics show three rectangular batteries—one in each section of the chassis. Notably, the segment with the most camera hardware appears to house the smallest cell due to space constraints. While varying cell sizes can complicate overall capacity and power management, the reported combined capacity is expected to easily exceed 5,000 mAh, potentially surpassing the battery found in the Galaxy S25 Ultra. There’s no indication yet that Samsung is switching to silicon–carbon battery chemistry for this device.

Thermals also seem to be a priority. A large vapor chamber appears to sit at the center of the device, an inclusion that makes sense if the Galaxy Z TriFold ships with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 as rumored. Extra cooling would help sustain performance under heavy workloads and during extended use in tablet mode.

As always with patents, these details reflect what Samsung is exploring and may not represent the final retail product. Still, the combination of a slim tri-fold form factor, gapless folding, a multi-cell battery configuration north of 5,000 mAh, and advanced cooling suggests Samsung is aiming to make its first tri-fold not just a showpiece, but a practical daily driver.
