Panasonic is expanding its compact camera lineup with the Lumix DC-ZS300 (also known as the DC-TZ300 in some regions), aiming squarely at travelers and everyday creators who want strong photo and video performance in a pocket-friendly body.
One of the standout features is the camera’s five-axis optical image stabilization (OIS). This stabilization system helps keep handheld shots sharper, even when using longer exposure times, and it also smooths out footage for more stable video recording. For anyone who regularly shoots on the move—whether that’s city walks, family trips, or quick handheld clips—this can make a noticeable difference in real-world results.
The Lumix ZS300 also includes a dedicated macro mode, letting you focus on subjects as close as 3 centimeters from the front lens. That makes it easier to capture detail shots like flowers, textures, food, small products, or close-up travel moments without needing extra accessories.
On the video side, the camera records 4K video at 30 frames per second, giving users high-resolution footage for sharper playback and more flexibility when cropping. It also supports Full HD (1,080p) slow motion at up to 120 frames per second, which is ideal for capturing action, quick movements, and creative cinematic effects.
For still photography, the ZS300 can shoot in both RAW and JPEG formats. RAW capture is useful for photographers who want maximum editing control over color, exposure, and detail. JPEG shooters aren’t left out either: images can be customized using 22 built-in filters, helping users achieve a specific mood or style straight from the camera.
Sharing photos is quick and convenient thanks to WLAN connectivity, allowing transfers to a smartphone—perfect for posting to social media, backing up images on the go, or sending shots to friends and family without plugging in a cable.
Pricing and availability: The Panasonic Lumix DC-ZS300 / DC-TZ300 is set to launch in the US for $899. In Europe, it will carry a recommended retail price of €999. Buyers will be able to choose between gray or black color options.
