OxygenOS 15 update is mirroring iOS 18 like features

OxygenOS Draws Inspiration from iOS 18 in Stunning Design Shift

OnePlus has been making bold moves with its software strategy, particularly in how it aims to provide a more seamless experience by integrating deeper into OPPO’s ColorOS. Shifting away from the minimalistic approach of pure Android, OnePlus now focuses on custom features that enhance user experience, taking notable inspiration from Apple’s iOS. This strategic shift seems designed to attract a broader user base with the upcoming OxygenOS update.

OnePlus is preparing to roll out the latest version of OxygenOS, making significant changes that mirror several features from iOS. Previously, OnePlus stood out with its clean software devoid of bloatware. Now, it’s moving closer to OPPO’s ColorOS with heavily customized user interfaces. According to SmartPrix, the new OxygenOS 15 update combines elements of iOS and Xiaomi’s HyperOS, particularly in the Control Center. Users will notice an upgraded Quick Settings menu featuring a 2×2 media player, a 1×2 brightness slider, and a 1×2 volume panel. This update brings a departure from Android’s traditional combined notifications and controls section, following iOS’s approach by segregating them.

The update introduces various iOS-inspired tweaks, such as an adaptive volume slider. Initially large, the slider diminishes in size as volume adjustments are made, making it less intrusive—much like its counterpart in iOS. Additionally, the lock screen will offer more customization options akin to Apple’s iOS, allowing users to personalize backgrounds and other elements.

One feature set to catch the eye is the dynamic island-like notification, positioned at the top of the screen for better interactivity. Even the branding of features seems to draw from iOS, such as “motion photos” in the camera app, likely to be called “Live Photo.”

While it remains to be seen if further updates will deviate from this iOS inspiration, it’s clear that OnePlus is moving away from its traditional software approach. The OxygenOS 15 beta version, based on Android 15, is expected to launch later this month, promising more revelations.
