Oura Ring Enhances Wellness Tracking with Acquisition of Veri, Introduces Blood Sugar Monitoring Feature

Oura is stepping up its game in the health tech space by acquiring Veri, a cutting-edge metabolic health app that leverages continuous glucose monitors (CGMs) to keep tabs on blood sugar levels. Building upon its existing suite of health monitoring features—which includes tracking cardiovascular health, sleep, stress, and menstrual cycles—the Oura smart ring is set to offer even more comprehensive insights into your well-being.

This strategic acquisition follows Oura’s initial integration with Veri, January, and Supersapiens, which enabled users to monitor their blood sugar levels effectively. Oura is now gearing up to expand its metabolic health offerings. The first new feature on the horizon is Meals, which will let users log their eating times. This can be a game-changer, allowing you to see how your meal timings and corresponding blood sugar levels impact other aspects of your health, such as stress levels, sleep quality, and recovery.

Earlier this year, the Meals feature was unearthed during an APK teardown of Oura’s Android app version 5.3.4. By entering meal data manually, and combining it with your chronotype—an indicator of your circadian rhythm based on the past 90 days of sleep patterns—Oura crafts personalized health insights.

The Meals feature will debut in Oura Labs, a beta-testing environment where adventurous users can opt in to test new functionalities and provide valuable feedback. The anticipated rollout is set for the next few months. Oura’s vision is to offer a cohesive suite of linked health products that provide a holistic overview of your well-being. Continuous Glucose Monitors are just one piece of this comprehensive health puzzle.

With these advancements, Oura aims to empower its users with deeper, more actionable health insights, driving a more informed approach to personal health management.
