Oppo Unveils Compact Premium OLED Tablet With 144Hz Matte Display and Snapdragon Power

Oppo Pad Mini Matte Display Edition Launches With 144Hz OLED Screen and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5

Oppo has introduced the Pad Mini Matte Display Edition in India, while preorders are now open in Malaysia. The new compact Android tablet is designed for users who want flagship-level performance in a smaller, lighter form factor, complete with a high-refresh-rate OLED display, a premium processor, fast charging, and stylus-friendly matte glass.

The Oppo Pad Mini Matte Display Edition features an 8.8-inch AMOLED display with a sharp 2,520 × 1,680-pixel resolution. The screen supports an adaptive refresh rate of up to 144Hz, giving users smoother scrolling, more responsive gaming, and a more fluid overall experience. With a pixel density of 344 PPI, the tablet should deliver crisp text, detailed images, and a comfortable viewing experience for reading, streaming, productivity, and creative work.

One of the biggest highlights is the matte display finish. Oppo says the surface is designed to reduce reflections and create a more paper-like feel when writing or drawing with a stylus. This makes the Pad Mini Matte Display Edition especially appealing for students, digital note-takers, artists, and professionals who prefer a screen that feels less slippery than traditional glossy glass.

The display also offers impressive brightness, with Oppo listing peak local brightness of up to 3,200 nits. That should help improve visibility in bright environments and make HDR content look more vibrant, depending on app and content support.

Powering the tablet is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 processor, paired with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.1 storage. This is the only configuration currently listed for international markets. In China, however, the device is available in higher-end variants with up to 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage.

For battery life, the Oppo Pad Mini Matte Display Edition packs an 8,000mAh battery. It supports 67W wired charging, which should allow users to quickly top up the device and get back to work, gaming, or entertainment without long charging breaks.

The tablet also includes a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front-facing camera. While tablets are not usually bought primarily for photography, the rear camera should be useful for scanning documents, capturing quick images, or taking reference photos. The front camera is suitable for video calls, online classes, and virtual meetings.

On the software side, the Oppo Pad Mini runs ColorOS 16. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, making it ready for newer wireless standards. The tablet also includes a USB-C port based on the USB 3.2 Gen 1 standard, which should provide better data transfer support than basic USB-C implementations.

The Pad Mini Matte Display Edition is also impressively slim and lightweight. In India, Oppo lists the tablet at 194.4 × 132.4 × 5.5mm and 279g. In Malaysia, the listed dimensions are 194.38 × 132.38 × 5.46mm, with a weight of 282g. The small difference is minor, and both versions remain very portable. The tablet is currently listed in Lavender Purple.

Oppo is also bundling accessories with the tablet as part of the launch offer. Buyers can receive a Smart Case and stylus as free gifts. In India, the listed values are ₹3,999 for the Smart Case and ₹7,999 for the stylus. In Malaysia, the Smart Case is valued at RM199, while the stylus is listed at RM299. These values refer to the included gifts and are not extra charges when bundled with the tablet.

With its compact size, matte OLED display, powerful Snapdragon chipset, fast charging, and included stylus support, the Oppo Pad Mini Matte Display Edition is aimed at users who want a premium small tablet for entertainment, productivity, gaming, and note-taking. Its high price places it firmly in the premium tablet category, but its combination of portability and high-end hardware may make it an attractive option for buyers looking for a smaller alternative to larger flagship tablets.
