OnePlus is kicking off February 2026 with a major OxygenOS update that focuses on smarter photo tools, stronger AI editing, and a more capable built-in video editor. The rollout has already started under version B40P02 (BRB1EX01 for phones and BRB3EX01 for tablets) and is expected to reach everyone by around March 5, making it one of the broader OnePlus software pushes in recent months.
What makes this update stand out is how heavily it upgrades the Photos app. Browsing your gallery should feel more fluid thanks to improved gesture animations when swiping through images. On supported OxygenOS 16 devices, thumbnails also load faster due to an optimized parsing method, which can be a noticeable quality-of-life upgrade if you have a large library of photos and videos.
The built-in video editor is also getting a serious boost, turning the gallery into a lightweight editing suite. After installing the update, users can cut and split clips, stitch multiple clips together, add music and text, adjust playback speed, and crop footage directly inside the Photos app. For quick social posts or fast edits without downloading extra apps, these new tools could be a big win.
AI-powered features are improved as well, especially for cleanup and correction. AI Eraser is being refined to deliver clearer results with fewer visible artifacts where objects were removed, helping edits look more natural. There’s also an upgraded Remove reflections feature designed to better eliminate glare in document photos and in portraits where glasses reflections can ruin a shot. Availability for these AI features depends on device model and software version, with support noted for OxygenOS 15 and above on select devices.
OnePlus is adding a creative touch to Collage too. A new “Popout” option lets the main subject appear to break out of the frame, giving photos a layered, more dynamic look. For organization, the Photos app’s filter options are expanding to include Motion Photos, screenshots and screen recordings, and edited media, making it easier to sort specific types of content without endless scrolling. Another handy addition is Auto Straighten, which can help fix tilted portraits, buildings, and other skewed shots while cropping and rotating.
Beyond Photos, the update improves productivity features on OxygenOS 16 devices. AI Writer’s “Write anything” mode now supports more formats, including compositions, letters, proposals, job descriptions, and video scripts, giving users more templates for everyday writing tasks.
Security and privacy tools aren’t being ignored either. Private Safe gets faster when adding images and files, and users can now edit photos and videos directly inside Private Safe without having to move them out first (available on OxygenOS 14 and above). OnePlus also notes general system stability improvements, which typically means smoother performance and fewer random bugs after installation.
Eligible devices include a wide range of OnePlus phones and tablets, from newer models like the OnePlus 15 series, OnePlus 13 and 13R, and OnePlus 12 lineup, to OnePlus 11, multiple Nord models, OnePlus tablets, and even older devices such as the OnePlus 8 series and early Nord CE models, depending on OxygenOS version support.
If you’re using an eligible OnePlus phone or tablet, keep an eye on your system update notifications over the next few days as OxygenOS B40P02 continues rolling out in waves.
